Leah Decter is a Winnipeg-based artist and curator whose work has been exhibited in solo and group shows all over Canada. She is interested in community-oriented art activities and is currently runs The Gallery Project in Vancouver’s Brittanica Library. Her piece will depart from a book that chronicles the life of Job, that was the sole item her grandfather had with him when he escaped the massacre of his small Eastern European Jewish village and immigrated to Saskatchewan. The piece will take the form of a video played on a mini-DVD player, and will look at the intersection of personal history with the socio-political forces that cause migration.
